What is a Will?

A will is a legal document that sets out how your assets are to be distributed after your death. It allows you to choose your beneficiaries, appoint executors and guardians for young children, and record your funeral wishes. Without a valid will, your estate passes under the intestacy rules, which may not reflect your wishes.

Why is it Important to Have a Will?

Having a will ensures that your estate is distributed according to your wishes, preventing unnecessary stress and disputes among your loved ones. Without a will, your assets may be divided based on standard legal rules rather than personal choice, potentially leaving family members without the inheritance you intended for them.

How Much Does It Cost to Have a Will Written?

The fee depends on what your will needs to do. A single will, or mirror wills for a couple, will usually cost less than a will containing trusts or inheritance tax planning. We confirm the fee in writing before any work begins.

How Long Does It Take to Draft a Will?

Timescales depend on the complexity of the will and how quickly we receive the information we need. We will give you an expected timescale when you instruct us. Once the draft is prepared, you can review it and ask for changes before it is signed. We can also update your will if your circumstances change.
